"Ball of the Palace" -Ornamental Ball
The Goten Mari was originally made by silk thread in to a ball. During the Edo Era (1600-1867), ladies in noble households throughout the country enjoyed making and playing with these balls. As a result, this ball came to be called "Goten Mari" or the "Ball of the Palace"

1. The body of the ball
2. Sand paper
3. Sawdust (in a plastic bag)
4. Gold thread
5. Fabrics for Goten Mari with paper pattern
6. Fabrics for ornamental cushion for display
7. Glue (tube)

The tools that you'll need to make:
1. Scissors -small scissors with sharp blades are the most effective.
2. A small sharp knife (like the one used to for wood engraving) to be used for adjusting the grooves in the body of the ball, if necessary.
3. A small dish for the glue.
4. A wet cloth or napkin to wipe off the glue of spatula, after each use of the spatula.
